Thank you to those of you that gave me both private and public comments, they make me feel motivated and touched...and are educational too!

Family

Knitting
Kimmy and Samantha bag patterns are currently being written
Millie Shawl, a fancy schmany dress up lace shawl in Symphony by Tilli Tomas is on the needles
Willow has been knit and written

New and Nice
Whip out your life savings or maybe your big needles and your lambskin yarn.....

Arielle De Pinto crochet and knit jewelry
20o8 -
2009 -
2010 irreverent Look Book

Stoke of Insight by Jill Bolte taylor
Wonderful wonderful book.

Fear
Something will be wrong at my check up.

Nobody will be interested in what I am offering and therefore I won't be teaching at my LYS

Gratitude and Good Thoughts
I am so grateful that I have both my parents, Mom is 79 and Dad is 81 and they are both in basically great health.....(now the fear pops up that I am jinxing something by saying that)

Good thoughts go out to all you medical and health professionals that take the attitude of compassionate care. You probably deal with all sorts of people and you yourself are only human as well....I know it is hared to deal with humans all day however when i am in there and nervous, your attitude during your care of me makes all the difference in the world between making my experience a decent one or terrible one.

CONTEST - Since next podcast will be my 100th episode- lets celebrate! How do "we" celebrate? Well, by me showing you my gratitude that you listen by giving away some stuff? What stuff, you ask? I would like to give away two prizes meaning there will be two winners-
1. a free kit with pattern for the next She-Knits Mystery KAL 5 -
2. Inspired to Knit by Michelle Rose Orne

How do you enter?
Post an answer in here to the following questions
1. What is your current favorite book.
2. Tell me something you are proud of yourself about.
3. Would you rather win the kit and pattern or the book.

I will announce the winner in the 100the episode.

Peace

My current favorite book is the “Gift from the Sea” by Anne Morrow Lindbergh. I love to read it every year in the summer. It is a book that is never the same, yet each time it teaches me something new about my life, a new way to look at my life.

Hummm, something I’m proud of about myself…I have a simple life. Three boys keep me on my toes, summer days of fresh tomato and the beach, great friends, good wine, and generally sweet and simple. I’m proud to be happy and content.

I’d love to win the kit and pattern. I have had a blast with Lizbeth and look forward to you next kal.

As for not sleeping with cute hubby, this was the reading at our wedding and is still true with us today.
"A good relationship has a pattern like a dance and is built on some of the same rules. The partners do not need to hold on tightly, because they move confidently in the same pattern, intricate but gay and swift and free, like a country dance of Mozart's. To touch heavily would be to arrest the pattern and freeze the movement, to check the endlessly changing beauty of its unfolding. There is no place here for the possessive clutch, the clinging arm, the heavy hand; only the barest touch in passing. Now arm in arm, now face to face, now back to back -- it does not matter which. Because they know they are partners moving to the same rhythm, creating a pattern together, and being invisibly nourished by it.

The joy of such a pattern is not only the joy of creation or the joy of participation, it is also the joy of living in the moment. Lightness of touch and living in the moment are intertwined. One cannot dance well unless one is completely in time with the music, not leaning back to the last step or pressing forward to the next one, but poised directly on the present step as it comes. Perfect poise on the beat is what gives good dancing its sense of ease, of timelessness, of the eternal."

Current favorite book: Brava, Valentine (can't remember the Italian author - she is great and witty.)
I am proud of my profession as a Nurse Practitioner.
I would love the kit and pattern for the KAL as I love your KAL's.

P.S. when you get older, sleep is sometimes more important than sleeping with someone! Love all that you do, Sharon.

1. My current favorite book is actually a series, the Scarpetta series by Patricia Cornwell.

2. I'm proud of my sister. At the age of 40, she went back to school, while working full-time, and got her bachelor's degree in Accounting. She finished over a year ago, and her company has just now transitioned her into a full accounting position.

3. Silly question! While both prizes are wonderful, if given a choice, I would always choose one of your kits over a pattern book.

My current favorite book is "The Bible". Studying it has opened my eyes to love, life and guidance.

I am proud of the fact I have stood strong for my husband, being there for him always through his battle with cancer. We hope to have this behind us soon where we can share quality life together, forever.

I would love the book on design techniques. I want to be like Sharon and be able to grasp new ideas for beautiful projects.

1. My all time favorite book is "Grapes of Wrath" by John Steinbeck.

2. I'm most proud of raising my daughter on my own to be the beautiful woman she is.

3. Since I know I'm doing the KAL I'd prefer the kit and pattern.

Favorite book - of my recent reads, I really liked All God's Creatures by Carolyn McSparren. It is a story about a female vetinarian, and her career. I did not want it to end.

I am proud of myself for finally getting the hang of weaving. I am mostly self taught and while I am no expert, at least all the words don't sound like a foreign tongue any more.

And, I would love the kit over the book. Love your designs.

1. I currently am reading "The girl with the dragon tattoo" and follow up books... they are a bit dark sometimes, but very well written...
2. I am proud of my job and what I do, and that I do it safely.
3. I would always take one of your kits, but the pattern book would be a great runner up surprise!

1. My favorite book right now is "Yarn Harlot, The secret life of a knitter" because if I can't be knitting at the moment I want to read about it.
2. I am proud to be a mom the 3 kid's that turned out pretty darn good, motherhood is under rated these days, as well a a compassionate nurse you spoke of. Glad to hear we make a difference!
3. I would rather have a kit and pattern for sure!

1. I just finished "To Kill a Mockingbird". When I was in high school, it wasn't allowed in our library. I love to read but the classics are not the first books I gravitate to but this one is a winner. If you haven't read it, you really should.

2. I'm most proud of a loving husband of 37 years, 3 beautiful grown daughters (2 who knit), 3 great son-in-laws, and 6 wonderful grandchildren.

3. Lizbeth is my first mystery KAL. I decided to do it because of it's name. Our third daughter is named Elizabeth. She's only been knitting for a few years and already has designed a few neck warmers that she has given as Christmas gifts. I would prefer the kit and pattern for the next KAL. I love learning new things and your KALS, videos, and wonderful instructions help me do just that.

I've been married for 47 years, and we have raised three good people. I'm pretty proud of that.

I would love to win a kit. Doing one of your kals is like going to school. I always learn new techniques.

Congrats on a successful career. ♥angel

1. My current favorite book is usually whatever I'm reading. I just finished the first 2 Percy Jackson books (after seeing the moveie) and a couple of boring geneology books.

2. I'm very proud of my 13 year old daughter and 20-year marriage. Couldn't imagine having 2, much less 7. LOL

3. While I love the KAL and would love a kit, I'm so far behind on my knitting that I would like to have the book.

Love your podcasts. Wish you did them more often.

1. I love so many books, but one that is always in my top ten is "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" by Jonathan Safran Foer.
2. I'm proud of the young men my oldest two sons are becoming (funny and fun, strong, caring, hard working, loving) and the growing up that's going on with my younger three (2 sons, 1 daughter). Sometimes I look at them and wonder how I got so lucky to actually be related to 5 such amazing individuals :-).
3. As much as I love books I'd have to go with the kit. Your KALs are so great - I grow in skill with each one and am so proud of my finished product - thanks for your great instruction and support.

1. My favorite knitting book right now is “Think Outside the Sox”; my favorite other books (audio) right now are the Debbie Macomber Blossom Street series and non-fiction, The Fat Flush Diet.

2. I am proud that I recently organized my crafting space in my basement and I finally have a great space to knit, sew and craft all the things I’ve been meaning to do but was so unorganized and cramped that it was no fun. Now everything is neat, organized and set-up to do whatever I get in the mood for and I have many moods.

3. I would rather win the kit and pattern so I can have something new to start immediately :0)

p.s. I don’t think you and your husband are as unique as you might think; my husband has a horrible snoring and tossing and turning problem and I am a super light sleeper. In order for me to be coherent and get well rested, he first started coming to bed later and later; then finally ended up watching and falling to sleep on the couch with the TV on and now can’t go to sleep without the TV on :0) We’ve been married over 20 years and this works fine for both of us. I recently read not too long ago about how home designers are now designing houses with suites one for the wife and one for the husband adjoining to sleep separately but still be nearby for other adventures! So separate sleeping arrangements may turn into the new normal :0) who knows we could be setting a new trend by talking about it! Congratulations on your 100th episode! Here’s to a 100 more!

1. My current favourite book is The Bourne Identity.
2. I'm most proud of my son. He'll be starting nanophysics at university this fall.
3. If you are taking international entries I would prefer the kit. I've never had one before and I'd like to try one.

First of all, didn't mean my last comment to be all 'anonymous' - I forgot my tag is O-0! So, my name's Heidi :-)

The sleep thing isn't just you. My husband snores his head off, even on his side, but I'm blessed with being a heavy sleeper and very rarely is it a big problem. My Mum is a light sleeper though, and Dad snores like a train. She uses the 'Thump and Yell' method and ear plugs...

So... Fave book is Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Love love love it.

I'm proud of the fact that I have found 'me'. When I got married (I was 20) I transitioned from my Mum's opinions to my husbands (not his fault, I was totally incapable of having an opinion, and making decisions), then found myself and have managed to be me, and have my own opinions since then. It rocks :-) I'm now 27 ... and some months **cough36cough**

I'd love the kit over the book for a prize, I've done two of your KAL'S and they are fun!

Heidi.

Hi Sharon,
I left a little note in Ravelry for you too.
I hate that weight gain thing. I have actually decreased my intake, continue to work out everyday, and cannot lose the 7 pounds that are hanging on. I blame menopause. I'll bet you are at a healthy weight though. Oh well. It's so freaking frustrating though.

Anyway, everytime I hear a podcast I still think of that very first one, in the car waiting for your "little guy" at the pool. And then he graduated from kindergarten-remember that? (Well, obviously you do!) And I remember that I was cutting fabric on a sunny day while I was listening. Weird huh?
So on to the questions
1) I have several favorite books. I read a lot so it's hard to pin down. I love the Jan Karon series, Carson McCuller's The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, A Tale of Two Cities, The Art of Racing in the Rain (I really liked that book).
2) I am proud that I have been able to successfully move, change and grow over the years. I started my nursing career at age 40 in Minnesota, after living in Alaska after growing up in Washington. I have been able to make friends, find my niche, raise my children-accomplish my goals, and continuing to chase new and evolving dreams. WooHoo!
3) I dont' care about what prize there is. If I get a prize, you pick it out. I am just happy to post and let you know I am listening.

Last book was James Patterson's "Private" which was good. Anything by him is a good book.
I guess I'm most proud of my 2 adult children and their children. I'm also blessed with a husband who indulges all my whims. "Met" him in the nursery 64 years ago, as we were born 3 days apart in the same hospital.
I'd prefer the kit for the Samantha bag - have to be organized!!

Also want to say that I haven't slept with hubby for about 15 years - hot flashes, etc. LOVE my own room, as does he. My dad's 89th birthday party is next week and I am thankful that he's alive and healthy.

1. What is your current favorite book.
My current favorite book, remains the Harry Potter books. I can listen to them, and read them over and over and never tire of them. I love the ease of the read. They transport you and just grab your attention. Now if it has to be a grown up book that a 43 yo woman should read, then I'm currently hooked on The Wednesday Letters. A great story, if a little predictible and a quick read. Sometimes, I just don't have time or energy for deep sould searching reading.
2. Tell me something you are proud of yourself about.
I am most proud of my steps taken to start my own business. We are still in start up phase, but I finally pushed through the fears, and am moving forward to achieve a long time dream.
3. Would you rather win the kit and pattern or the book.
Both items are fabulous, I would love the kit, but would be happy with the book as well. The kit is first choice.

I just found your podcast and am a new listener. I'm inspired by your patterns, and look forward to listening to you going forward. Thank you.

I do enjoy your podcasts (you and I walk together each time you post)and I can identify with many of the feelings you share...brunches are always a rip off regardless of how much you are able to eat!

1. My favorite book of all time is "Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon...the whole series is awesome but that first book is stellar!

2. I am proud to be the mother to two teenage girls who do NOT drink, do drugs, and are not promiscuous. Also, they both were on the national honor roll, and DD#2 is studying in Cambridge (UK) on a full scholarship for a month. Glad to call these girls my daughters and also my friends.

3. I would prefer the kit and pattern, but the book would be awesome too (my almost SIL knit a lot of the projects photographed in that book.

Thanks,

Not my favorite book, but I'm now reading a fun, light summer read that is like Harriet the Spy for adults. The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz. I'm enjoying a break from the more intense stuff.
- Proud that I will be defending my PhD dissertation in September
- The kit might make me brave enough to try a mystery KAL. Nothing to lose!

My current favorite book...it goes on the bus with me everyday is "Teach Yourself Visually Handspinning" by Judith McCuin.
I am very proud of the fact that my oldest son's girlfriend feels so at home in my home. The one thing that I have always hoped for was that my home would be a welcoming and loving place for others.

I would love the kit and pattern for a KAL. I have never done a knit-along!!

Enjoy all the things around you and look at them with new eyes whenever possible. We live in an amazing time and place.

Peace and happy knitting!
